Keeping Pet Brands Compliant Since 1990
What We Do
RECALL
Recalls are initiated voluntarily by suppliers, at the request of the FDA, or by formal FDA order. Recalls are costly, time-consuming, and damaging to brand and company reputations. Knowing how to navigate the process timely will limit costs and the loss of customers.
STOP SALE
A Stop Sale, also known as a Withdrawal from Distribution, is a formal regulatory order to immediately halt the sale of specific products due to issues such as product contamination, labeling errors, or unpaid fees. Failure to halt sales or withdraw from distribution will lead to product seizure.
STATE LICENSING & REGISTRATION
States regulate pet foods, chews, and treats, requiring label guarantors to obtain a feed license and register their products. Many require products sold in packages over 10 lbs. to report tonnage volumes and pay tonnage fees. Failure to comply will result in fines, penalties, or regulatory enforcement actions.
IMPORT ALERTS
The FDA can place products on Import Alerts after violations are discovered, such as contamination with Salmonella. Once on an Import Alert, future shipments can be detained without testing, leading to supply chain disruptions, lost revenue, costly recalls, and potential regulatory penalties.
